ALEX HAYN:Gang of Bara Office
ALEX is originally from Mamelodi in Pretoria and now lives in Ndofaya next door to FRANS. He used to be a police officer in the Hillbrow police station around the same time as ANDREW. He realized that he was wasting his time in a place that offered him no growth. He quit the idea of bringing a difference through wearing uniform and looked for other means to do so. After he quit the police force he worked for MK who taught her the game of private investigation. When he got tired of her mysterious ways he joined MARIUS’ Bara office. He discovered this office through his neighbor, FRANS or ‘Ngamla Stooks’. It did not take him much to prove himself to MARIUS, especially after acquiring the Harvard standard of investigating.
ALEX shares the same sentiments as DAVE with regards to saving the planet. His main idea, though, is to get rid of the paper production in the world. The principle is simple: “No paper, no more tree cutting”. He has a digital world to back him up, but the dream is still too big for this generation.
Andrew Lang: The Quiet Captain
Andrew is a newly promoted captain leading a team of both honest and dishonest cops. He knows about this mix and he also knows that the judge is corrupt. He is a patient man with a clean mission to first clean his office then clean the rest of the city. He is working at Meadowlands police station. His strategy is to scare the criminals by being more violent than them. He gets his inspiration from Clint Eastwood’s movies. And it works. FRANS, or Ngamla Stooks, hates ANDREW for this very reason.
At the office, he is the quiet observer who can see through people and slowly expose them to the governing body. That way he can get them out of his police station. When he moved from the Hillbrow to Meadowlands after the promotion he had eighty police officers under his rule. Now he only got 53. He believes that if one cannot stand the fire, they should ‘vamoose’, as he would put it. He has been in the police force for the past ten years.
