He wanted his vengeance. They want more

Synopsis
Rowan, a win/win street hustler and a brother to a well-known Jozi attorney, Marius, is found dead. He died in the land of the Soweto Cooling Towers. Two scientists, Mark and Tim, working on a pointless Geological project under the towers, find a book labeled 66CASES after reacting to the gun shot. They later find Rowan dead.

Captain Andrew, newly promoted, suspects that there is a connection between the return of Eric and the sudden death of Rowan. Eric left the country in the eighties for the sake of his safety. He’s been in Chile for fifteen years. Andrew has no backup for his claim, but he is so convinced he is even willing to make up the case to be the way he sees it. But can he? This connection makes no sense to his officers since Eric and Rowan are related. Besides, Eric has no interest on the street hustling that Rowan so loved with a passion. Eric has always been on another level when it comes to business as usual.

Marius, a very busy attorney, gets on a mission to resolve his brother’s murder. He temporarily leaves his ‘ladies-only’ law firm at the hands of his three well-trusted lawyers, which are Dominique, Samihta and Cecelia. He opens a case to solve the murder himself. He gathers his boys and two girls from his Bara office to be his eyes and ears on the streets. Alex, Nick, Ivan, Dave, Sue&Sue are among this team.

Lucas, who is a former friend to Marius and currently a competing attorney, has a great reputation when it comes to the art of investigation. He does work for both the honest and dirty folk. Unknowingly to both of them, Eric and Johan Vos hire Lucas to find the missing book (66CASES). Out of curiosity and, of cause, ego (R3mil+ on offer) he pursues the book regardless of the fact that these two are sworn enemies. Lucas also wonders why the opposite sides would coincidentally hire him for the same job at the same time. He hires his own contact, Makosha, to find the book, find out what is behind all this and, importantly, what’s the book’s contents. Makosha, a Harvard graduate, is always five steps ahead of everyone. With regards to this case, she knows things that can compromise Lucas’ position. But she is interested in seeing where this will go. She does the job for two main reasons. One is to keep tabs on Lucas and the other is mysteriously involving Helen.

At the fall of Rowan, who was extremely powerful and influential on the streets, Helen takes on the control of the pimping business. She and her partners, Mandy and Kim, take over the streets and literally clean Rowan’s former employees. At the same time they redefine the pimping business. As their pimping power grows from that they proudly advertise their company: Pimptress@Sandton. Looking at this sudden growth a thought crosses Marius mind. But he does not suspect that his ex-girlfriend can kill for the sake of getting business. Or can she?

In his cloud of vengeance, Marius gets his investigators to investigate Jono as he is the first suspect. This action is motivated by Marius’ belief that Jono was behind his father’s death, though he can’t prove it yet. He knows that Jono always hated the fact that he and his brother are surviving after their father died and their uncle, Eric, left the country. Captain Andrew is not impressed that Marius is leading an investigation without the help of the SAPS. With that in mind, Captain Andrew does his own sniffing around that give him the lead to a different, and unique, direction. The past has, apparently, a lot of influence on the events of today.

Jono, the judge, has a dirty history and is really good with regards to cleaning after himself, which is one reason Marius will have a hard time catching him, if at all. Jono believes that with law in his hands he can be anyone he wants. This is the attitude that got him to power in the first place. He is the main reason Eric left the country in the eighties. Power struggle, they call it. Johan Vos, who is a powerful man in his own regard, practically worships Jono for all the great hustling opportunities over the years. But every man has a weakness, and Jono’s weakness is the love of recording how he came to power in his special book: 66CASES.
